After the runaway success of their program ALL IN THE FAMILY, the producing team of Norman Lear and Bud Yorkin took a cue from the successful British sitcom STEPTOE AND SON in order to create this smash vehicle for African-American comedian Redd Foxx. SANFORD AND SON details the comedically endless disagreements between aging junkyard owner Fred Sanford (Foxx) and his grown son, Lamont (Demond Wilson). Airing from 1972-77, the show was NBC’s most popular program for four of its six seasons and earned four Emmy nominations. This collection presents seven fan-favorite episodes: “Crossed Swords,” “Happy Birthday, Pop,” “Here Comes the Bride There Goes the Bride,” “The Copper Caper,” “A Matter of Life and Breath,” “We Were Robbed,” and “A Pad for Lamont.”
